Testing task: Read information about a slider in reading mode

With JAWS in reading mode, describe how JAWS behaves when performing task "With the reading cursor on the 'Rating' slider, read information about the slider."

Test instructions

1. Restore default settings for JAWS. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that sets focus on the slider.
3. Verify the Virtual Cursor is active by pressing Alt+Delete. If it is not, turn on the Virtual Cursor by pressing Insert+Z.
4. With the reading cursor on the 'Rating' slider, read information about the slider.
5. Using the following commands, With the reading cursor on the 'Rating' slider, read information about the slider.
   • Insert+Tab
   • Insert+Up

Success Criteria

To pass this test, JAWS needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

1. Role 'slider' is conveyed
2. Name 'Rating' is conveyed
3. Textual value 'zero of five stars' is conveyed
4. Numeric value '0' is not conveyed
5. Orientation 'horizontal' is conveyed
6. Minimum value '0' is not conveyed
7. Maximum value '5' is not conveyed
